New guy's wheelchair van

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum and thought that I would share a few pictures of my van. I have been reading posts on this site for about 2 months now. It has provided me with answers to some questions that I have had. This site is full of people that like to help each other out, that's great. I have never owned a 4X4 before so this is all new to me. I have seen others post picts of non SMB vans and thought I would do the same. While it's not a SMB it has just been converted to 4X4 by Sportsman 4X4 in Kamloops, BC. The van is a 2006 E250 5.4L gas that I have owned since it was new. I live in Kelowna, BC and in the winter can't make it up some of the hills in the mountains around here so I pulled the pin and had 4wd added to my wheelchair van. All I can say is WOW! The difference that it has made is awesome. It rides better, turns nicer and looks good too. I drive from my wheelchair and I think that this is a great safety addition plus as an added benefit I can get into places where my 2wd van couldn't go. There is some amazing scenery around here that was previously inaccessible to me.

The conversion details:

-Clydesdale 4WD Conversion
-Independent Front Suspension
-Dana 44 TTB open carrier
-Borg Warner 1356 part time
2 Speed low range 2:69 to 1
-Re-geared diff's from 3.73 to 4.10

I still have to do rims and tires but that may have to wait till next year. I have to save some money . I will be getting Nitto Trail Grappler M/T's 275/70R18 tires and Eagle Alloy Series 079 18X8.5 Black wheels with a +20mm offset. They should fit nicely and still clear the sliding side door.

Here are a few pictures and there are more in my gallery. I hope you all like it.
Cheers
Darryl

Much Cool!

Just one question... how will your sliding door work out with tire/rim choice? Did they "extend" the slider? (oops, guess that's two questions)

Yea that's two questions but, are those questions bigger than Christine's HEAAAD?

Re: New guy's wheelchair van

Your van looks great! We want a minimalist approach to our interior, no cabinets, but a big, comfy bed in the back like yours.
I was wondering if you could give details on your rear bench/bed like what brand and model it is and where it was installed?

Thanks so much

Re: New guy's wheelchair van

I've never seen a lift like that. What brand is it? and, no raised roof. Do you have problems with headroom when in your chair?

From what I have been told it should clear with about 1/4" - 1/2" to spare. The tires are only 11.1" wide and with the 20mm offest it should work out great. The side door is stock.
