Re: New Kentucky SMB Owners!

Wow, nice SMB!! I really like the color. How long did it take for the buildout? Hope you and your family have great times camping and adventures in your new SMB.

Re: New Kentucky SMB Owners!

Thank you for all of the compliments on our van! We are already enjoying it. We took a weekend trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary this past weekend. We got to experience the Kentucky Blizzard of 2015. The van did wonderful on the snow covered roads, but we didn't like thinking about all of the salt that was getting sprayed on the under carriage and the body.

As for the color, my husband and daughter wanted the desert tan, but as you can see I won out.

@rallypanam: There are a Hella lotta lights on the van! That means it is Hella goooood. Funny thing is my husband thought we needed an additional LED light bar on the front. We will probably end up with one sooner or later.

@86Scotty: We are in Northern Kentucky. It is nice to know you are in the Knoxville area. We travel to and through that area quite often headed to Western North Carolina. We will have to meet up.

@Sheriffdoug: Yes, our two vans would look great in a pic together! Let us know your whereabouts when you are in the US (May/June). We do have plans to travel west in July, but it could be that you will travel east during your travels, if so definitely let us know. We will get together for that pic.

@MKRyan: Interior pics coming soon. It is an EB50 layout.

@4x4sporty: Great to know there is another KY SMB. Let us know if our travels may cross here in beautiful KY.

@BrianW: Yes, you are correct on the "attention getter". We are already getting a lot of attention. I think that is a big reason my husband wanted tan instead of red.

@yvrr: Yes, we already in that mode of taking pics of the SMB everywhere. I guess it is natural after waiting so long to get one. Our cross country trip was also a quick one since we had to get back to KY for our daughter to get back to school. We couldn't enjoy the scenery and too many stops along the way due to time constraints. So, I guess the next best thing was to take pics of the van where we did stop!

@Bellpilot: We had SMB Fresno build the van. It took them a while to get the van in stock from Ford after ordering it. That could have been because of the color, not sure. Once SMB Fresno had the van, it took them 3 months to complete the build.

Here are some pics of the snow on the interstate from Monday:

Re: New Kentucky SMB Owners!

Nice rig for sure. Glad you guys are having such a good time. One of my buddies wife commented on my web site about the pictures I posted and ask "why does he post so many pictures with the van in it?"
Come on, these things become part of the family. Selfies with the van are fine
Enjoy

Re: New Kentucky SMB Owners!

I know that in the past, Ford required a minimum order (10?) of "special colors" so they had to either collect enough orders of the color, or they had to buy them all themselves.

Re: New Kentucky SMB Owners!

You guys got a little more snow than us up there! We got ice, not once, not twice, but 3 times now. I drove across the state yesterday and was actually glad I was in my wife's car with traction control, great tires, etc. The van would've been nice but mine is older and doesn't have ABS and all the safety goodies we enjoy in her newer car. Anyway, good time for an SMB, just make sure and set a sprinkler under it in the driveway afterwards and wash all that salt from all the crevices.
