New Owners!!!

Hello! Just wanted to introduce ourselves - we're new to the forum. We bought this Sportsmobile (E350 DSL EB-14) a couple months ago and since then have gone on a few different short trips in southern Utah (Gooseberry Mesa, Moab, Capital Reef). We still can't believe we actually own this!! Now we just need to figure out a good name for it. Any ideas?

Re: New Owners!!!

If you think vehicles should have a female name--your wife will undoubtably come to consider it a mistress so WTH--then something rather beefy should be appropriate. My mother named my rig Bertha which seems to fit. Perhaps Lavernia? Have I offended anyone yet? If not, try this: http://www.stupidstuff.org/main/lesbian.htm

I'm trying to imagine the circumstances where you would say to yourself "Hmmm, I really need to keep this link handy, might need it someday"...?

Re: New Owners!!!

Congrats! Nice looking van! I like your fuel/water can holder on the back. Now welcome to the "I need/want/wish to add/put/bolt onto my Sportsmobile", club!

Re: New Owners!!!

Zac and Lisa,

Welcome and congrats! It's nice to know there's another SMB in Utah!

As for naming it, I believe that "It" will let you know...don't rush it, you'll know when it's right. Mine definitely wanted to be called Alice. I hesitated on that for awhile, but she insisted and insisted, so that's her name, and I love her! (Perhaps another Alice in Wonderland)?

I wish you many wonderful and safe trips!

Edie

Here's a picture of the two of us...

Re: New Owners!!!

Welcome to the group. Your van looks great. Have the traction ramps ever been used? I've always wondered how well they would work with heavy vehicles. Love to see some closeups of how they are mounted.

I'm sure you'll have a good time out there. Enjoy.

Re: New Owners!!!

And a couple with them removed.

These have never been used so i cannot say how well they would hold up to the high weight of the SMB. I would expect them to bend if they were used as a bridge, however they are plenty stout for traction in sand or mud where the bottom is well supported. They are made of Aluminum.
