Re: New To The Fold

Entering Vegas via Lovell Canyon & the Red Rock cut trail.
The rear posi & front e-locker worked well. My g/f kept her cool!

Today we sit at SMB as they install a Penthouse top.

Re: New To The Fold

Where does the trail you were on start? Looks like nice country.
Be sure to check out the fit on the roof seal before departing SMB. My top does not seal on the right rear corner and hasn't since it was new. SMB said it would eventually conform to the roof contour. I suspect it can be adjusted but I haven't been close enough to Fresno to have them do it. It's no big deal but dust does like to come in at that spot.
Great color for not showing road grime! What's next?

This trail starts in Lovell Canyon on the back side of the Spring mtn range off of the Parumph/Vegas rd.
Very tight for a full size and truthfully I did not complete the trail (my 80" width kept me off of a tight rocky edge).

Thanks for the heads up on the top seal fitment. I will check it out.

Whats next?...
I have two additional 2010 factory captains for a quad seat interior. Fridge, inverter, ship to shore, power points etc...
I hope to finish by Christmas or early next year.

Re: New To The Fold

I looked at the trail on Google Earth. It's kind of the southern backside of Mt. Charleston. I don't care for Las Vegas but the surrounding countryside is spectacular the farther you get into the back country.
So will you sleep up top or build a lower bunk? What kind of fridge? I went with a National Luna 50 liter, 40 liter fridge and 10 liter freezer. It draws about 1.5 amps and also will run on AC, Super quiet. No solar? I had SMB prewire the solar controller and then added a panel up top later. It works so well I've never run my 100AMP AGM aux down.

Re: New To The Fold

maxacceleration - Nice looking van! There's more and more Quadvans showing up around here.

I'll have to keep that trail in mind. I have rough plans to get the SMB out to Vegas sometime in the next few months to go hit the back country with a customer.

Re: New To The Fold

A couple more piccies.
Low range kicks out to neutral so I have to keep and eye on it.
I could just imagine an Atlas in this rig. For my usage I won't need the ultra low of the Atlas.
Low range & the V-10 pulls.
I have dual transfer cases in my Taco though!!!

Yes the rear bumper/receiver gets close to the ground easily and drags.

Linkage adjustment? Hitting floor?
