Re: New To The Fold INTERIOR!

Looks Great!

I have not finished my interior but my drawings are amazingly similar to how yours came out. I have a RB van so can not use the rear seat when hauling bikes. I use Baxley LA Trailer chocks along with tiedown straps or Moto Cinch tiedowns. I have inserts in the floor to hold the chocks in three different spots, single bike center/fwd, 2 bikes=pass/fwd driver/rear. I could put a single bike in any position (if only hauling the Supermoto race bike it goes pass/fwd) to create space. I used VersaTie Aluminum Track (Series 4) from Mac's Custom Tiedown's mounted flush with the carpet and its rated high load and was smaller than e-track. Its like the stuff mounted out your walls. We call it "Seat Track" in the Aviation Biz.

I had a bed planned close to how yours was done. I will put my microwave on the shelf above the driver where the TV was in the conversion van. I will have a flat screen on a swingout mount on the wall and my 12v cooler/fridge fits between the driver/passenger seats.

I went with the "Contempo" or TV top so I would not have to pull the mirrors/windshield/computer off the dual sport. I do have to lean it and rock the bars to get it through the doors. I have been thing about extending the rear doors into the top like they do for rear load Handicap conversions. I use a Prairie View "Bad Boy" motorcycle ramp for loading. It folds in half for transport, and when extended is 96" long/36" wide. It has a solid floor and holds 1200lbs. I find that I can walk up beside the bike with the wide ramp. I am also going to mount a warn 2500lb atv winch (long remote) under the drivers seat with a flat pully between the seats to help with loading by myself. I plan on making a mount to hold the ramp agianst the spare tire when I build my Rear bumper.

Re: New To The Fold INTERIOR!

Sounds good Bones, and similar.
At this time I won't do the winch as my bikes are manageable.
I do look for a down slope to load and and up slope to unload.
I have a step I use so I can push my bike in easier.
Its always good to see someone's similar interior, as you can eliminate what you think are weak areas for your own use.
Show us some pics when you finish!

Re: New To The Fold INTERIOR!

And a couple of more pics on how I hope to keep my interior tidy.
Hi Lift jack mounted to the passenger side wall.
A gear wall will hold all my bedding seen here (big bag for two, full size pillows, full size inflatable matteress and wool blanket for overlay on the coldest nights) hanging on the drivers side wall. I am just test fitting so my bedding will eventually be in one single compartmentalized bag.
And my bike ramp...

It never ends does it?

Re: New To The Fold INTERIOR!

Keeping the streamlined backpacker mentality I found a cool shovel which will fit in my large QuadVan floor storage.
Man that thing holds a lot...

Its a collapsing snow shovel from REI. Should do the trick for my needs.
I just couldn't see a med/large spade hanging off my van somewhere.

Careful with that if you are using it for sand and dirt. It may be light, but it's made for snow and it will chip or shatter if you strike a cobble or boulder. You may be better off with an army surplus folding steel shovel.

(Of course, if you've bought it for snow ... never mind.)

I will be careful vdub. I haven't been stuck in rocks much (thats where the traction is!), with stucks usually happening in sand or mud.
Yes rocks are everywhere. It will probably dig toilet pits mostly.
If & when it splits or whatever will be a good test.
For now its light and compact & anodized or hard anodized. Seems solid.
And I have broken more than one surplus shovel handle over the years...

...We are working on gear walls for our interior now.
Cheers

Re: New To The Fold INTERIOR!

Hey maxcell,

I sure like the fabric storage units idea. We have been collecting duffel bags for years,
and they are very handy for storage as well as carrying around. It looks like you have
improved on the duffel bag by eliminating the need for shelves.

Re: New To The Fold INTERIOR!

On my continuing quest for compact, removable gear/storage etc, the GF just finished sewing up our kitchen caddy.
Holds most of our kitchen utensils, freeing up our small amount of cabinet space.
Done camping? Pull out the caddy, roll it up and throw it in the garage.
I design she sews... except she designed this as she kicked my idea right outta there.
Using cordura, packcloth etc from an incredible outdoor gear materials store.
Its fun to design and draw.
More gear panels to come.

Re: New To The Fold INTERIOR!

Very nice kitchen storage unit. Now I'm jealous and I've got to share my Thule collapsable tote - photos below. Can't find 'em anymore, but I picked this up at a local RV shop for $40 on sale.
