Re: Oakland/Bigfoot 20' Class C 4x4

I've already received at least one phone call and a few emails on this rig! Hopefully it will wind up with some UJ parts underneath.

1994 Oakland 20’

Hey , nice rig! I just met a guy yesterday who may want to sell his 94 Oakland 20’ class c. It’s in great shape , not a 4x4. Any approximate idea what these rare units might be worth?

19.95 today only!

NADA RV values probably don’t go back that far so the value is whatever the market brings. Start high.....or I can give you 19.95.

With the revival of this thread due to the amazing find by Northernlights I thought its long over due and time for an update. Seems like lots has happened in way of progress on the rig. Its been out of commission for quite sometime. We decided to have built the same front bumper as our family passenger van from HNC. We swapped out the highway cruising Michelin tires and went with the BFG AT2's.

A while ago we did a V10 to Diesel swap on my parents Bigfoot and ever since I have just been drooling over his fuel economy, range, and ease of climbing hills and taking on head wind all in cruise. For a few years I've had a 60K mile 7.3 sitting on a pallet just waiting for the right project to set her into. I finally bit the bullet and decided this little mini Bigfoot was going to get it. My parents swap went super smooth as we had same year donor van, but mine was a different story. We had a 2000 truck engine, with a 1996 donor for wiring. there is quite a bit of different between the new 7.3's and mid 90's so the swap took a lot long and a ton more chasing issues and solutions. I'm currently putting shake down miles on her before I attempt and long distance runs with the family. So far so good.
Also wanted an auxiliary fuel tank, opted for the same set up we did in my parents, a factory front to back style (along the frame) fuel tank trimmed down to clear the T-case, this tank became my main tank while the aft tank became the AUX and pumps into the main tank when needed.

Very Tight Squeeze, 4" turbo back.

New Garrett GTP38R Turbo, big difference!

Thanks so much, I appreciate that. I just haven't updated this thread here on SMB as I didn't know whether this unit had a place here.

My generator is located in a lower compartment on the rear passenger side. I started to notice some sagging of the box from the upper body section. After pulling the water heater which is located directly above this storage box, I reached in and discovered that the floor in that are was rotted. The water heater must have been leaking slowly for years leading to the sagging of the heavy storage box below. Obviously I wanted it all fixed properly so we began to pull out the rear kitchen area and discovered how extensive the damage really was. So what I initially thought to be a quick small fix lead to a total gut fest.

Repaired all the wood ribs and wall section.

Removed lower storage boxes and build a supporting cradle for both the Generator and propane, taking all the weight off the upper body.
