Oregon back road maps

Last summer during the fire season I ran across the fire protection district maps on the Oregon Department of Forestry web site. Then they disappeared when the ODF redesigned their web site. Now they are back, http://gisonline.odf.state.or.us/protectionmapdownload/.

These maps show most of the backroad and trials throughout the state as well as the location of gates that are used to close off the roads and trails. The nice thing is they are also get referenced so that they can be loaded into an app like PDF Maps. Have not had the chance to test them out yet hope to soon.

THX for the link.
I downloaded the north coast since it's my backyard : )
I'll do some comparisons to the 24K topo I've got loaded in the Garmin.

I do go out with paper and the digital copy. Some of the trails have been closed or washed out. We frequently go up Gnat Creek area east of Napa and Cooks Creek out of Nehalem Bay. And if one is not careful they can get the ol' manzanita-bush touch up on the paint as the trail turns into nothing more than a quad track. We've got some mileage-in-reverse over the years.

True. I imiagine that the maps were only put together for areas that can burn. Not much to burn in SE Oregon, at least not like the rest of the state.
