After waiting since October, I finally got a letter in the mail denying my application for a personalized plate. This is from the California DMV. They cited some rule about being deemed inappropriate.

They took my money but then did give me a credit.

The plate was

ROX N ROX

so I applied for a different one:

RVANROX

I am waiting...

I ordered LSU1TGR from the CA DMV and I hope it comes soon

I always wanted one but finally having a SMB made it worth it!
I can't believe they are not being mass produced, mine is awsome!

Ours is waiting for us at the local DMV but I have to wait till the standard plate that comes from the DMV arrives before I can go down and exchange it. CA DMV efficiency at its best!

cellularSteve......

I find it hard to believe that they would not give you the plate you requested, especially seeing this plate several years ago during a visit in CA. Whoever makes the decisions for the DMV must have been asleep at the wheel for this one.

This was was on a 300Z that some chick was driving.

Sam,
It took me about 3 seconds to figure that plate out. I saw a funny one too on a metallic green Mustang convertible with two rico-suave playboy types in the car. It read: RU18YET

I couldn't believe they rejected my ROXNROX plate. We will see if they reject by RVANROX. For the description I put down on the form that I have an RV and I am into rock climbing. Even though it is to be read as: R-VAN-ROX

I will keep you posted.

cellularSteve:

I've told other people about that plate & most will get it in a short time. Some don't get it until I tell them to break it down or write it down. You deciphered it pretty quick!

Maybe you could use R-VAN-ROC as an alternate. I liked the RU18YET plate. There are some creative people out there!

that is a good idea but i am about ready to give up. maybe i will just get commercial plates instead. i think i can then park in the loading zones and not get towed.

BTW Sam, where in PA are you?

I'm near State College, PA the home of Penn State University. It's almost smack dab in the middle of the state.

I see that you are in LA. I have a relative that lives in Sherman Oaks whom I just met for the 1st time last year. My wife & I went to Palm Springs in May for a week & went to visit he & his family as well as the Getty Museum. My wife teaches Landscape Architecture at Penn State. She enjoyed seeing the Getty Museum as well as the desert landscape. That was her 1st time to the desert or CA.

Don't give up on the license plate. Tell the Govinator what you want or you'll be back. Good luck!
