Im hoping I can cram two bikes there if I take off the front tire and put one of those front fork mounts like this.... https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com ... .02.lg.jpg

dont use the fork adaptors and waste money. make your own unviersal type mount and turn the handlebars at a right angle after removing the front wheel.

Buy a 1up USA rack from Robbie https://www.1upusa.com/
save all that interior space.

Hands down the best rear hitch rack made. you can also tilt them and open the rear doors.

I think I've also seen vans where the whole thing was left intact and painted black, but can't immediately call any threads to mind.
Thanks for the link! Sounds like a good option
Here is a little inspiration.

When we picked it up in AZ:

After a little AGILE Magic (note the color matched liner on the bottom and wheel openings):

Here are you wheels, powder coated and 35" tires:

You have a nice van, I talked to the seller and considered buying it. Enjoy!

I want to do exactly this! Let's keep in touch.

I'm currently somewhere over Sacramento flying to Portland!

I'll keep this thread updated for anyone whose bored and wants to live vicariously through a new smb owner whose quite excited.

Ramsey.......you need to create a before/after thread on here for all the different vans you've done. It's pretty neat to see what's possible and it gives us all ideas.

Re: Picked up my first SPORTSMOBILE!

So far so good guys! Quick question. Does the automatic top stop automatically? Does kind of a loud pop when it gets to the top.

Re: Picked up my first SPORTSMOBILE!

Well after 2 hours at the att store fixing my cell phone, I decided it was wise to find a camp site before it got dark. Apparently the season for camping in Oregon ended on Oct 12! So several places were closed until spring. I managed to find a site off the 5 freeway called Eugene Kamping World.

I put up the top gain with bated breath hoping, A) it wouldn't crash down, and B) it would go back down tomorrow!

I got the top up, and again it made a pop on the drivers side at the top. I grabbed the only tool I have, a cheap flashlight, and started to look for damage or something out of the ordinary. Granted, this is the first time I've actually ever put a top up on a SMB, let alone try and diagnose a problem!

Everything seems normal from what I can tell. However, I have no idea how the electric top works! I thought those little hydrolic push bars were the mechanism, but it seems that they don't do much. I just hope it doesn't crap out before I get back home.

Other than the top anxiety, I'm really enjoying this rig! It drives down the road great. It has the norcold ( or something) fridge that I had on for a few hours. It started to cool my half sandwich quite well.

My rig only has one battery that's located in the rear by the toilet, so I don't want to run the fridge all night without knowing how the battery will do. I'd hate for there to not be enough juice to lower the top in the am.

Hopefully I make it to sf by tomorrow afternoon.

Anyone else have advise on the top?

Thanks!

Re: Picked up my first SPORTSMOBILE!

Consider getting off the I5 and taking a little diversion down the 99 through Fresno to pay Sportsmobile a visit. It would only add 30 minutes to the drive.
