Oh yeah... this guy showed up in the bay one night. I'd call this glamping. Spielberg's yacht the Seven Seas. Wow

After a lot of winter camping we finally got to sleep up top in the desert recently.

Simplesez, that looks like a great spot. Those solar panels look familiar. Are they Zamp? I used my 180W Zamp this week and loved them. It was a cloudy Wisconsin day, so I only got 0.9A out of them.

In my opinion solar panels have all come a long way in recent years, even cheap ones. Controllers have not. The Renogy panels I typically use will grab power in almost total dark........but......it's all about the controller. I have a cheap Chinese controller on my Jeep right now and it is a serious limiting factor. I plan to replace it soon but I used it because I already had it.

That said, cheap or decent panel with a good controller like Zamp is surely the way to go. I'd be curious what Greg (Scalf) has to say on this.

86Scotty, I agree solar has come a long way. Back in 1982, I attended a sales presentation for solar heating systems for homes - I lived in Nebraska at the time. I knew the technology was no where close to providing any real advantage anywhere other than the southwestern states. Recently being exposed to solar, I was flabbergasted at how far it has advanced and is a real option for boon docking.
