Roof rack for pop top

Just finished up this rack using our new modular extruded aluminum system, low profile and light @ 57 lbs.

I'll have a page on the website dedicated to these racks soon. Fun stuff!

That's clean Chris. Love the low profile.

Re: Roof rack for pop top

I think I asked this on portal but will the rack be able to attach using existing Yakima channels or would it be best to use your foot mounts that presumably rivet or screw into the side of the fiberglass pop top?

I need to refinish my roof and was going to use spray on raptor liner and could simply fill in the holes.

I'm also interested in attaching a solar panel and it looks like one could go directly on your rack with plenty of room for baskets, boxes, or whatever behind it.

Re: Roof rack for pop top

This van already had some Kwik Rails on it for the existing x-bars so we added a few more feet to use our existing gutter mounts. This is the ideal way to mount it.

And yes, plenty of room for panels!

we just got another SMB in yesterday that will be getting a top re spray and another of these racks. I'll have a build thread going for it soon.

Re: Roof rack for pop top

I am looking to add a roof rack to my pop top. What is the best way to attach the gutters to the fiberglass top? Also any extra measures to make sure it doesn't leak? Thanks

Re: Roof rack for pop top

We used some pieces call Kwik Rail to mount the rack. Bolts to the top and has a gasket. It's outside of the penthouse canvas so if it were to leak nothing is coming inside.
