SMB @ Work
A rare bird in tow: 1990 Vanagon Atlantic Syncro.
I can pick up and deliver vans to my customers--can't do that with a Vanagon.

Re: SMB @ Work
Isn’t that a bit intimidating to the customer?

Re: SMB @ Work
Nice Synchro! That's worth some $$$. You see them all over the place in Europe (often with surfboards or even kayaks on the side), but rarely, if ever, in the USA.
I had an 88 Westy 2WD in the same color.

Re: SMB @ Work
"rarely if ever" I am in Michigan and there are very few VW camper vans here but I was just in the San Diego area for a few days and made my way up the coast to Del Mar and Solana beach. The swell was pretty good and my advice if you want a VW camper van is to take a wad of cash and stalk the parking lots when the swell is good. Surf and Southern Cal = many well preserved VW vans. 4x4 and non 4x4. 1978, 1988, 1998. I think all the good ones actually live in the garages of the investment bankers and they bring them to the beach twice a year.

A rare bird in tow...not to mention the tow vehicle. Sportsmobiles ain't exactly common, and here in MI, seldom spotted.
T-minus two years and counting until we're back in the PNW (sigh)...

What I meant, but wasn't specific enough, is that you rarely see the hard tops here in the USA. Combine that with it being a Syncro, and it's very rare (and cool).
In the pic, it kind of looks like the VW is the equivalent of a spare tire for the SMB, in case something breaks down :-)

There area bunch of them around coastal north county San Diego - I've seen 6 to 10 at a time parked together above Cardiff in the evening.
