Thanks to James in Cardiff.....I am a new member!

So I was surfing in Carlsbad the other day with my sportsmobile set up for a little day camp action, top popped etc. A guy rode by on a roadbike, stopped and introduced himslef as James Robertson?? He told me about the forum, and suggested I check it out....so here I am! I am stoked to finally be in touch with some other sportsmobile owners and have someone to talk van with! I have a 94 Ford E250, Quigley 4x4, pop top etc. I bought the van from a family in Maui, Hawaii who had shipped it there. Lived in the van and drove it around Maui for about a year and a half, and then shipped her here last winter. I have been driving "Vanna White" around the mainland for a little over a year now--from San Diego, California to Key West, Florida---and tons of spots in between. I am an avid surfer and this van takes me where I want to go--mostly the beach!! I have driven it through all conditions from sand, rock crawling, rivers, beaches, snow etc. and I am proud to say there is no stopping Vanna White!!!! I have done lots of my own alterations and repairs to my van, the installation of my cherry wood floors being the most satisfying. So if you see some 33 inch Mickey Thompson all terrain tire tracks leading up to a primitive campsite with a white SMB parked there and a pile of surfboards, come on by and say ALOHA!!! Stoked to be part of this van community!

Whoa, I don't know if there is room on this forum for two Vanna Whites. We may have to make a name change - "Earth Destroyer" was suggested by some friends.

Seriously, though, welcome aboard. And nice floors!

Thanks for the continued moral-van support!! My friends and I have three vans total (2 SMB) and we happily refer to ourselves as the "Van-pires" Stoked to know there are more out there like us!! If you can get to your campsite in two wheel drive, we won't be there!!!!!

Re: Thanks to James in Cardiff.....I am a new member!

Hey this is James Rogers. Yea, usually when I am out riding I will see a SMB along the coast, and I also like to pull over and peek in to see how they have it set up.
Glad to see you found the forum! Yeah you have a great rig and for only paying what you did for it you got a screaming deal!
The peeps on this forum are great and there is lots of advice to be sought if you are doing any upgrades, etc.
Happy travels my friend....I am sure you will see us parked along the 101 a lot this summer doing some surfing.

James
