The best part was the cost of the opening windows. From my local Ford dealer, they were just over $100 each, complete with hinges and latch. They are available in standard green tint, or darker grey tint.

Here's the part numbers if anyone is interested:

Standard green tint R F2UZ1542006GA
L F2UZ1542006HA

Privacy Grey tint R F2UZ1542006JA
L F2UZ1542006KA
Guess I should have searched this forum first. When will I learn. I found the above in another post.

I took a closer look at the damage over lunch since the rain stopped for a little bit and unfortunately, I have damage to both rear doors as well. I may just end up opening a claim, get everything fixed and have Aluminess make me another swing arm.

I've heard those windows are no longer available. Good luck, you may find a pair in a dealer's stockroom.

If not, I'm in Santa Clara and have my stock window in the garage. I don't need them, but they are too good to throw away.

Hopefully the windows are cheaper than crushing a door, as the spare tire has been known to do to me (luckily not on an SMB nor a van that matching the color was essential...)

If need the stockers I have both from when I changed mine. Free (you pay postage) as I did the swap to swingouts. Your parts guy can look system wide for the Swingouts, that is what mine did and I got the last two Dark Tinted ones acording to him RH from St Louis, LH from Maimi. If the Dealers find NOS stuff in the Attic the listing changes so good luck.

Re: Vented Rear Windows .... I always wanted some!

Bones and Mike,

Thanks for the offer of your fixed windows. Once I figure out what the total damage is, I'll let you know if I'll take you up on your offers. If I end up opening a claim, then I'll just let a body shop do everything and have Aluminess build a new swing arm.

Assuming the rain stops Saturday, I'll pull the swing arm off and see how much damage there really is to the doors.

If you let your insurance pay, ask the bodyman if you can give him the windows instead of paying the deductible.

Oh, and you backed into a tree on your neighbor's front yard right? Make sure your policy doesn't exclude 4 wheeling or some other dastardly activity.

Already thought of that.

Was also thinking that I may just find two doors off of a van in good shape for less than any of the other options. There has to be a lot of silver (or is it grey?) vans out there. I don't think the rear door design has changed at all in the last decade or two.

Oh, and did I mention I'm still mad at myself for doing this in the first place? At least my youngest son has quit calling me a Dork over the whole thing. My older son just shook his head at me because I was getting on him for not looking behind when backing up during his first time behind the wheel with me. He's 15-1/2. I'm all about learning by example!

So you sacrificed your rear windows and damage to your doors to deliberately teach your son a lesson? That's father-of-the-year material right there! That should be your story and stick to it.

Re: Vented Rear Windows .... I always wanted some!

Reminds me of when I was at SMBW last year.
The quality control manager was getting on the regular driver for not paying attention when moving the vans around inside the garage.
The QA manager then backed my SMB out of the garage with the regular driver watching and me in the passenger seat.
He hit the side of the door jamb with my mirror.
Boy was he ever embarrassed.
Wonder what account he charged the replacement off to.
