Re: Wilson (Bill Wilsons New Rig)

Cool rig...I hear you on the Westy. I've had a few friends that have had old VW buses and new VW westies and from what I have gathered they are hit and miss. One of my buddies got a steal on an 82 diesel westy that was loaded. 2 years, 3 engines and mucho $$$$ later he was ready to unload the thing.

So is your new rig a 7.3 or a gasser? I'd love to see some interior pics of this monster. And what is up with that top front window?

Anyway, congrats.

Looks great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all have to grow up sometime and leave the VW's behind. You will wonder why you spent so much time in the right lane.

Re: Wilson (Bill Wilsons New Rig)

here here, Westy owners turned SMB unite. It killed me to sell a cherry 89 (my 3rd westy), immaculate with less than 40k miles on it, but was sorta hard to justify after the SMB purchase. That said, there is a certain level of uh, confidence and reliablilty that comes with a Ford today vs some quirky thing with the VW out in the middle of nowhere (common).

Seeing what GoWesty is doing in San Diego these days and some of the prices they are getting (yes---$75,000-$85,000+) makes me wish I had kept it as low mileage super clean ones are almost impossible to find now.

Good job! That was listed in Clairemont on Craigslist. You must be local San Diego. Congadulations and hope to see you around.

Re: Wilson (Bill Wilsons New Rig)

Congratulations Bill, looks like a great rig. The picture of the Westy looks like it could be from S. Mission Beach or Hospitality Point.

I guess there are alot of us out there. I was a three time Westy owner. Just switched to a Sportsmobile with voyager top. Also a V-10. I live in Carlsbad and I couldn't be more happy with my choice. I'm sure you will love it and I'll probally see you on the road in San Diego.
