The SMB Benz combination was not an option when I was getting serious about 3 years ago, and yours with a few others, has shown us all, that Benz vans 4x4 are here to stay. Been very impressed.
You have kept me stimulated; enjoying your journey, letting us come along for the ride.
Soon, probably a couple of months from transport to Australia, then Federal and State approval, which they will not make easy, to ensure my US Vehicle, converted to Right Hand Drive is safe and complies to all Australian Design Rules for the US year of manufacture. Maybe, I might get lucky, hopefully my people here have done thier work in advance and we have built to those stict design rules.
I have also particularly enjoyed MG Metalworks conversion to Cummins 6.7 straight six build. Also like mine, a very long story.
I have had two operations during my build, having come out of Hospital yesterday for five 2.2cm/1" Olive shaped bladder stones, with a blood clot two days later in the Euretha blooking total bladder function. However, in the leed up, 6 weeks prior to procedure, I have changed my diet, eating less meat, no sugar or alcohol(which I only had 1 a day), cyling 15kms a day, 30 pushups, walking 5kms a day, alcohol intolerant, loosing as ot today 12 kilos/26lbs.
Anyhow, time for a shower.
CheersDoug

Sounds like the it's not just the van getting a makeover. Good on ya Doug and can't wait to see the finished van. Do you have Tapatalk on a smartphone? It makes it pretty easy to post pics and videos.

Thank for the shout out!
Cool video! I hope to be posting a link to my first drive video very soon.
I keep thinking through all of the things that have to be done to convert to RHD and my mind is blown that they did it so fast and so clean. Nice work!

I had not thought about having to relocate the emergency brake peddle. Only thought about the gas and brake. Its the details that count and it looks like they have them all covered. Am going to have to come to Australia just to see the finished van.

What would be more interesting to see on the road? A Ford E350 in Australia, or a right-hand drive E350 in the US?
You should come back to the US sometime with your van.

Herb,
I shall be back with SMB in US, sometime in about 18 months and there's bound to be a meetup.
Will get you a movie on the road in Australia, soon as it gets here, mate.
And you are more than welcome to visit any time, we have a guest room waiting.
I will be keeping up my US registration, as it is so cheap. I have a US address.
Cheers Doug

Facebook doesn't seem to make it easy to determine the link URLS for its videos, but here is a link that seems to work:

Steering Box is mounted on Chassis Rail
Note how the steering box is mounted on the chassis rail, to create space.
