Re: Anza Borrego over New years (Was Mojave)

We just got home and I wanted to weigh in. First of all thanks to each of you who made the trip and shared food and stories and firewood. Truly a diverse group. It was way too cold for Ruth and I on reflection..who's idea was it to go to Borrego for the warm weather???? Tapatio? Charlie 56? The ranger incident/encounter was unpleasant but I have had these types of encounters before with the Coast Guard boarding my vessel, Canadian and US customs Agents regarding my gun and the local county park employee playing cop about my off leash dog. Best tactic is to "yessir""nosir" the official person and move on. Thanks to everyone for keeping it civil. We all(including Ranger Rick) need to read the Park brochure. It is ambiguous at best about where to park . I passed the same Ranger going out and we stopped and visited for a second. It's a tough job and based on the folks I saw on the road going out yesterday the Ranger has his work cut out for him. Nuff said. I think several people missed connections and decided not to try the trail without another van. I'm sorry this happened. Anza Borrego is truly a spectacular place and I hope to visit again...maybe in August when the weather is better. And Gooseberry...where is the aerial shot with every camper giving your drone the finger?

From that picture it seems like there are only two vans that are a vehicle length off the trail???

Re: Anza Borrego over New years (Was Mojave)

And we're home.. we took off mid morning on Friday, had breakfast in Borrego with Jeff & Janet, then toured the sculptures with them and Ray & Jennifer.. Finally left maybe 2:30pm, and headed north. Camped in Johnson Valley with the 'Got Sand?' crowd, then headed up to Kings Canyon last night for a little snow.

Got home a little bit ago, finally a shower after 5 days!

Great time, great to meet y'all, ranger incident was truly minor and inconsequential.

Sounds like a great, trip sorry I had to miss it. Glad everyone had such a good time. Any more videos of off-roading?

Looks like the complete roster of slackers and ner-do-wells hell bent on trashing the desert. The aerial shots from Gooseberry's drone tend to compress everything so it looks like we were all on top of each other. We were pretty spread out in fact. Thanks for keeping track of the group.

Re: Anza Borrego over New years (Was Mojave)

Added a group shot to my post above, which was being staged when the ranger showed up, so we insisted he be in the shot too, good sport. Got home yesterday eve. after leaving Anza Fri. morn following Waymon (TexGX) back to Phoenix, spent a night at my sisters in unseasonably cold Scottsdale then on to even colder Santa Fe before pulling in to a snow covered Boulder, CO. it's 10 degrees outside right now and I have to go shovel the walkway......
