If Big Bend NP is still closed and you cannot get a permit, you can still visit Big Bend Farm State Park, just some dozen miles West of the NP. It's definitely worth a visit.

Not looking good for the NP but the ranch may have to do. Then we can just hang out if Marfa an extra day.

I follow one "vanlife" poster on Instagram and they got popped in Big Bend by an airplane based Ranger. They camped in a spot that was off limits and they were found later and ticketed. I have heard Joshua Tree is being overrun currently and is closed until they can get it cleaned up.

I highly suggest hitting the Starlight Cafe in Terlingua on the way to the Ranch. Also, a visit to Clay Henry, the Mayor of Lajitas who happens to be a goat is always in order.

the hiking an camping there is awesome. Cant wait to go back.

I've been to both Big Bend National and State Park. I do like the National Park better but the State Park is nice too! Just to be aware you'll probably run into Border Patrol there as it can be quite active around there with crossers.
