Question Boondocking Anza-Borrego area? or nearby?

Boondocking Anza-Borrego area? or nearby?

Hi all

Looking to do some self contained camping away from the sad smoke of the Malibu fires…. soon.

I read that Rockhouse Trail Campsite - Borrego Springs, CA
https://www.campendium.com/rockhouse

is nice, quiet, and not too far from a town….

any other suggestions vaguely in the area?

Any good, quiet camping (no reservations needed) in Silverado area? Mt San Jacinto? San Bernadino National Forest?

A short trip, coming from Los Angeles, so semi-close to LA would be good. So less than 200 miles from LAX.

It can’t be a difficult road to get there… meaning it can’t be real “off road”. Needs to be a fairly flat dirt road access.

Thanks!

John

If you're gonna do that drive, Lower Rock House is not a rewarding destination unless you drive way back into that canyon.

I'd suggest:
Blair Valley. Easy to find, right off the hwy, more crowded, station wagon accessible. 33.032391, -116.399718 or 33.029219, -116.391117

Mine Wash 33.131302, -116.335273 or Pinyon Wash 33.131749, -116.311919. Off the hwy a bit, more remote, nicer scenery, station wagon accessible, drive up the canyon till you find your spot.
