Boondocking in the eastern sierras.

I'm heading into the eastern sierras next week on the annual 'dads and kids' camping/fishing trip.

In the past, we've setup a base camp around the Rock Creek area and also the Green Creek area farther north around Bridgeport. We usually stay one night in the Alabama hills on the way up or back too.

Fishing, hiking, relaxing and goofing off are the primary trip objectives. The kids get restless quick so prolonged off-road exploring won't work for more than a single day.

Ideally, we've camped very close to some prime fishing areas. Typically, right next to the water. But skeeters have been a problem with my youngest son in the past and I'm concerned that this year will be an especially bad bug year with all the water.

Any guidance on campsites with access to fishing, but no immediate proximity to water would be appreciated.

The more remote the better. Boondocking is our preference.

I've downloaded and may check out some of the sites posted by YVRR and Charlie56 already. Thanks for providing that information.

Rob

Try up out of Laws up Silver Canyon, camp at Cottonwood Cr. (with fishing!), and go down Wyman Creek in Deep Springs Valley. Check out old White Mountain City Ruins at bottom Of Wyman Canyon.
