Camping Trip to Ocotillo Anza Borrego, Ca over New Years

Been a busy month...
Finally had some time to go thru the pics of the week long vacation over New Year's Day spent in Ocotillo and Anza Borrego for some R&R in the desert. The weather was great.
We 4x4ed into a area where nobody in there right mind would go with a RV or Trailer..

Hope you all enjoy the Pics.. Wish I took more.

Instead of the usual camping spot, we picked a different spot off Tule Wash

Tule Wash, Off Poleline Rd - Font's Point off in the Distance near Borrego, Ca

Point of reference we saw - Sign Near Bank Wash

Unloading the Bikes - The new Ultimate MX Carrier were much better then the beatup motorjackrack's.. But still not perfect for a 4x4 motorcycle carrier. I can't believe I didn't get a pic of it.

Camped

Camped - Sporto's lastest addition is a New Winch and Synthetic Winch Line.

Love the Desert in Winter - no baby Colorado Rattlesnakes spotted on this trip.. remind me to upload that pic from the Fall Anza Trip.

Desert in the Winter

Endless Terrain and Trails.. I call it Sportmobile heaven along being DirtBike Heaven..

Found 50 Cal live Round dated from the 40's - Patton's old practice grounds apparently.. 1942 or was it 1947.

Someone Parachute Sailing (dragged) by a Quad!

Sunset Shot

Exploring a small canyon, tight fit.

I was wondering if we could get out! There was a fresh trail, someone did make it out..

Eventually making it out of the canyon..

Camp Homebase

One of the few Palm Tree's out in Anza Borrego

Mud Hills near One Palm..

Last Sunset Day - Waited till the last moment to leave..

It was another good trip. Ocotillo and Anza Borrego is nice in the winter time. We'll be heading back to the same spot next time we go.

We also saw the excellent fireworks show that the bizillion Trailers/RVs gave parked along off near highway 22 (near Font's Point) on the New Year. Must have been a Zoo..

Nice!! Looked like a great trip - and with bikes too.

I have been working on installing a Moto Jack Rack onto our SMB here just recently. I purchased a seven inch hitch extension, which allows the MJR to almost clear (the slop in the MJR itself will allow the rack to just barely contact my rear box during max wobble). I just need 1/4" more.

Thanks for taking us along,

I too thought about installing a Moto Jack Rack on my EB but it seems like alot of weight so far behind the rear wheels.
Any thoughts on this?

Excellent pics and trip report. Anza Borrego is on my "to do" list for later in 2008.

No problem. I've put thousands of miles on my EB with a bike on my motojack rack. FWIW, I also got a hitch extension from ultimate MX hauler and ditched it after one use. There is no way to eliminate hitch sway with the extension and over small bumps it was downright scary how much the bike and rack jumped around back there. My bike clears the spare tire by about 2-3 inches with the MJR, so no clearance problems either.
