East Coast Meet Up/Rally

I'm still in. Probably solo, probably not in my latest van as I doubt it will be finished, but I plan to be there. Do I need to prepay/preregister or anything?

As of now, there's no set check in time on Fri. Did discuss with Devils Backbone staff having everyone swing by the basecamp to sign in and pay (prior to setting up). I'll post more details on those procedures in the coming weeks. Would be helpful to confirm attendance if at all possible (need to let Devils Backbone know what to expect). Here's who I have confirmed so far:

I would like to express interest in coming to the camp out for the weekend. Me and Katie and likely departing Florida within the next week or so to make our way up the east coast before going to Alaska for the summer. If the timing works out I would love to meet and hang out with some other sportsmobilers.

Hellbetty is still an empty shell so there is nothing to see folks- but i would LOVE the opportunity to enjoy some springtime in that region as well as see your fine SMB's up close.

This is such an awesome opportunity I am working hard to attend. Turns out to be bad timing with family wedding/graduations looming. BUT I can go over from Cincinnati if need be.... So there is a chance I may need to attend in Carla (-GASP- my Honda instead of Hellbetty) for logistical reasons.

A FEW QUESTIONS:
* TLG do you have enough people to cover the group meadow costs that you have been planning?

** 4x4Ken did you get your Sherando site reserved and how far is it from the group meadow site?

I don't mind a meadow/tent at all but in that case I won't have my porta potty (so maybe should camp at the Sherando lake campground campsite for amenities.) I'll be hiking on the trip, no fishing or biking this time.

A-O, meadows costs are by person so no worries if you don't make it. You can get a Sherando site by reserving one online. They also have a fair amount of sites that are first come/first served. I'd be willing to bet that a ton of those sites will be open (the busy season there is summer through fall).

On a separate note, Devils Backbone will be keeping one of their basecamp area, stand alone, toilet buildings open 24 hours a day during our stay. You'd still have to walk or ride a bike over to the basecamp area to access. Per previous discussions, a porta jon will be in the meadow for those that can't quite make it to basecamp.

Just drove past Sherando on the Parkway last weekend en route from New Orleans to Philly (in our Honda van, not the SMB) and had a moment of sadness that I won't be able to make the meetup :-(
