Eastern California in the Fall

I rarely post 'trip reports' as I never record my activities or events as I do them, except for photography, and I don't do that in a documentary sort of fashion since I am out to make fine art images. But what the heck, I'll give it a try. I spent only four days traveling through Eastern California recently, something I do often and have for a long time. I tried to catch the fall turning, but was a bit late for some areas and hit some good spots, too. Drove from Santa Barbara to Lone Pine through one of the nicest storm systems to pass through the northern Mojave Desert in a while. First night in the Alabama Hills, the first image with my rig in it. Chased colored foliage through Bishop Creek canyons and on to Lundy Canyon and a long morning hike up the trail. Numerous fun stops along the route including the Independence Cemetery. Enjoy the images.

Great pics Jeffrey, is that first one (with your SMB) on the road up to Whitney Portal? If so, we marvelled at those rocks when we were headed up there and didn't see them anywhere else in the area.

Thanks!

Gee, thanks everyone.

Scotty, the Alabama Hills are right along the road to Whitney Portal. You can't miss them unless it's dark, and they are quite visible in moonlight.
