Re: Goler Wash/Barker Ranch/DV Spring 12
Sorry to hear about your vertigo. I experienced this once many years ago. It was caused by a tiny piece of protein that dislodged in my inner ear and then floated around. It was NOT fun! My Doc had me lie on my side in a particular position and then move a certain way. It worked and I've never had another episode. I imagine you have tried many ways to illeviate your symptoms. I know ther can be multiple causes.

Re: Goler Wash/Barker Ranch/DV Spring 12
I'll be down in LA the last week of March and would like to join the party on my trip home.
I'm not familiar with the west side of Death Valley.
Do you have a Lat, Long and time for either the 30th or 31st?
I can't find Ridgeview on any map; did you perhaps mean Ridgecrest way back in one of the original posts?

Four years, 31 medical specialists, many tests -- no conclusions, except that none of the treatments tried have worked. I'm heading back to the Mayo Clinic in March for more tests. I'm not expecting them to know any more after these tests. I've learned to live with it -- but it sure cuts into my ability to use my Sportsmobile. Driving while the world is spinning is quite a unique experience.

Re: Goler Wash/Barker Ranch/DV Spring 12
Viejo,
My typo...it's Ridgcrest. The entrance to Goler Wash is via Wingate Rd. south out of Balarat to Coyote Canyon Rd. 35, 51' 31.82"N, 117,10' 46.76" W. If you want to come in from the west.
Coming from the east via Warm Springs rd. into Butte Valley the junction on West Side Rd. is 35,51' 31.82 N, 117,10' 46.76"W.
As of now the meetup point has not been firmly established for the group. It is my intention to be near Balarat on Friday evening the 30th. I am open for any suggestions since I'll be driving from Santa Rosa it will be late in the day Friday. Some folks have said the camp ground at Balarat is funky so any other spot works for me.
Suggestions anyone?
Chris

Mac - I hope you can make it. Maybe once you're back in Death Valley, that vertigo demon will come out of your head and go home. Stranger things have happened.

I'd strongly suggest Trona Pinnacles. It's a fast drive to Balarat from there or you can do the drive we did in 2010...Killer route, you just need to leave out early to do the immagrant trail plus Goler.
you can read about it here:
http://autoramblings.com/sportsmobile/?p=3453
At least the pinnacles has a porta head on site, has plenty of space, and trona has all fuels.

Daveb,
Many thanks for this info. This is perfect and as you say a quick run to Ballarat. The bonus is I haven't driven hwy 178 before.
To those of you who are planning this trip, the Friday night meet up will be at the Trona Pinacles.
Chris

Chris,
The meet up place sounds great. Never been there before but have spent time in Death Valley N.P. mostly off the main roads. Never been to the areas the trip will be taking us. Speaking of the trip, is there a set path we will be taking? If so, I would like to know the places we will be going so I can print up very detailed topo maps.
I will be going almost for sure, just need to get a CT scan reading on the 26th, then I will know for sure.
Can't wait,
Woody

We'll see you there. We'll be coming in from Palm Springs and should be there late afternoon.
