Heading to Roosevelt & Rocky Mountain NP -Help

We're planning a 2 week trip to Roosevelt & Rocky Mountain NP. Anyone have any recommendations for great trails and spots to camp? We do NOT want to be too intense with the trails (Red trails in Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4 wheel drive trails).

This is probably a given but Hwy 14 west out of Fort Collins is an amazing (highway) drive. Lots of nice FS campgrounds along the way. We've only been through once, during the Gov't shutdown a few years ago, but they should all be open now. I've heard from locals that there are many great trails off this highway. We were enroute to Medicine Bow and spent a night on Chambers Lake. I drove in after dark but saw what looked to be a lot of boondock spots around the lake. We were towing a Jeep that time so we just pulled off on the shoulder. That specific area is pretty quiet and remote.
