Looks like it didn't keep you from having a good time.
^ What Robb said above...Sierra. I got up there around 6:00pm on Thursday. Art, in the CCV window van with open trailer, arrived about an hour later. When we woke up on Friday morning, the smoke was very thick and was very 'noseable'. Over the course of the weekend, the smoke came and went with the shifting winds. Friday and Saturday afternoons were better, but I had snot pouring out of my face Friday night. We did have great views of the stars late at night though.

The fire up in the Sonora Pass/108 area is really bad: https://www.modbee.com/news/article216154210.html

Yeah it's been really bad in the valley. Some days it smells like pine burning down here. I've wondered what the area around Pine Flat was like but a buddy was up at Mammoth Res and it was bad as well. I wanted to head up toward Edison but it's probably thick in smoke too. Sucks.

^ Following last weekend's camping trip, a few of us met up for our normal Thursday dinner & beers this evening. The subject of a motorcycle ride/camping trip came up, and no one could think of anywhere that anyone would want to go right now. Fires to the North, fires to the East, fires to the South. It's just nuts. Twenty years of forestry mismanagement will do that.

Well, that and arsonists: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/09/u...res-arson.html
