Jackson Hole "Meet and Greet" June 21st thru 23rd

It would be great to do a meet and greet here in my back yard!

There is tons of great free camping with ample room for as many SMB's that would show up.

The fishing is amazing the views are even better. It does get crowed here in the summer, But if we wanted to get a pay group site I could make that happen as well.

The Kelly Campground has a big group site and is a nice CG lots of Buffalo and Elk walking thru the CG. not the best views, you can look it up. it's only 5 miles out of Jackson. That is just one of many great places.

I would rather stay on BLM land and boon dock.

I do know of some big spots right on the Snake River and I have acsess to 6 river rafts for fishing or just floating.

There are many cool routes for a group road trip and the views will blow your mind oh yea did I mention the wild life.

Thought and or suggestions??

thanks guy and gals

Ron

Sounds like a great idea Ron. I can agree with boondocking or a campground, we're easy. How about Shadow Mountain? Where on the Snake can you boondock? Is it in the Park? If we could be near the river that would be good. Can't really think of a bad place to stay in the Tetons though.

Re: Jackson Hole "Meet and Greet" summer 2013

I have stayed at the end of the RKO road on the Snake River but I might have been lucky. You have probly camped here more than I have you know how it is when you live here,
Some of the free camping (boondocking) would be

1. Gros Ventres past Slide Lake anywhere for 7 miles.

2. Through the Elk refuge up the mountain to Curtis Canyon and Sheep Gulch tons of huge spots with view of 3 lakes (Jenny Lake-String Lake-Phelps Lake) and the Tetons.

3. Lost Creek which is behind Triangle X Ranch. fills up fast.

also there is the Hoback canyon and Granite Hot springs thats all free except for the main CG at the end. Lots of Bears!!

I have never satyed at Shadow Mountain. I think the camping faces east and you have no view But i have never been there.

this is just a few of the spots out there and you all can look them up on the internet.

Jackson Hole "Meet and Greet" summer 2013

Sounds good to me as long as the CG can be reached in 2WD. Any thoughts on dates?

I have been to all of these in my van before it was 4X4, so no worries.

Re: Jackson Hole "Meet and Greet" summer 2013

July?

Aug?

I'm interested. Late May/mid June I'm in my car to/from Iowa. 52 mpg TDI is why I'm in the car. Jackson is only about 1000 miles for me. And, I'd like to Ron and Zeta again.

I know some come to M&G to do some 4 wheeling. Myself, I come to see, meet and talk to people, the more the merrier. Have yet to meet a forum member I didn't like.

Re: Jackson Hole "Meet and Greet" summer 2013

Late June sounds good to me. Looking at the calendar though, I think anytime between June 20th through July is good for me.

Shadow mountain camp area faces the mountains. It has great views of the Teton Range except for the power lines that run through the sage flats about 200 yards out. Its free camping on forest service land right on the border of the Park. No facilities what so ever though. The Gros Ventre campground I think has group spots but not sure if it's tents only. Is that the 'Kelly Campground' you were talking about Ron? If not, then I don't know where the Kelly campground is.
I've been out past slide lake, but never stayed out there

We're heading up there tomorrow for New Years for an overnight stay. Sort of a tradition my wife and I have started in the last several years. Not taking the SMB this time. Staying in town. Will drive through the Park tomorrow and Tuesday looking for wildlife and something beautiful to take a picture of. Shouldn't be too hard.

We'll be thinking of other possible camp sites. Sounds like it would be a good time. I haven't been able to make any of the other meet and greets. Hope many can make it this summer.
