Joshua Tree RECENT info? (alt. choices same drive time?)

gonna try to get away next weekend

any recent info on JT?

condition of Berdo Road?

How crowded in Bell / Ryan or White Tank?


Favorites out of Bell / Ryan or White Tank?

Would rather 'bama hills or Anza, but trying to cut drive down
(open to other suggestions)

White Tank is by far the best but there are only a few campsites. If you arrive midweek you might get lucky. IMHO Berdoo is a boring drive, I would rather find a campsite and hike.

think can bail out Thurs for a 7-8 pm arrival

Ever been to the El Paso Mnts?

Burro Schmit tunnel, Black Mountain paleo site, old mines, The Big Country

Probably about the same drive time, possibly a little more.

No organized campgrounds though.
