Lake Conasauga, Cohutta Wilderness Area, Ga

This is supposed to be the 'largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi', yet I had never even heard of it before last weekend. Me and a buddy with a sweet restored 69 Westy wanted to escape from our cities (Knoxville and Atlanta) and find someplace quiet for Memorial Day weekend, but we hadn't planned ahead and there isn't much boondocking in this part of the world.
He suggested this small CG in the Cohutta Wilderness in the Northwest corner of Georgia. We had to climb up to about 3200' on pretty rough gravel roads, which I know is a laugh to you Westerners. Over here though most people live at near sea level, so while it was 85 at home last weekend, it topped out at a nice 68 up where we were. Turned out to be a beautiful, quiet weekend and the CG wasn't even half full.

Looks like a beautiful and restful spot. Glad you had a good time. To bad I cannot even start to pronounce it.

Makes me think about going somewhere quiet for the 4th.

Looks like an awesome spot. What kind of temperatures did you encounter? I know all you guys back there are immune to humidity but that place looks rather inviting

Lol, I'm not immune to humidity, I HATE it!!!! It was very humid and mid 80's at home when we left, but a high temp of only 68 up there, about 50 or so at night. Absolutely perfect, NO humidity!
