Lost Coast, CA

After pickup our new Sportsmobile we will be visiting friends in the Bay Area and then driving North to the Lost Coast region, Kings Range National Conservation Area, Sinkyone Wilderness State Park and points North to Eureka. I drove through this area about 5 years ago but did not have time to expore it much.

If anyone has any experience in this area I would love to hear about it.

Thanks
John

Usal Road was our maiden voyage for our SMB in March. It wasn't quite open for business (road was blocked at the North end by downed trees). The views are fantastic. I understand that it is crowded on weekends at least at Usal Beach.

This time of year you should not encounter any problems on the road. Last time I was up there, the Safeway in Willits had the best Diesel prices.

Here are some photos

Charlie,

Usal road is definety on the short list of places to stay so thanks for your input. The only thing that may keep us from stoping here is that my wife (Dana) is pushing for somewhere that will be a little warmer. The weather for Eureka is only forcasting about 60 degrees for the high and we have been sufering through a cold spring up in the NW so we are both itching for some warmer weather. We will definetly get a little of that in Fresno on Tuesday when we pick our van up though .

Thanks again.
John
