Lytle Creek Remote Yellow Post Camping

Did some SBNF Remote Yellow post camping last week. It was nice... amazing what you can find close to home.

Re: Lytle Creek Remote Yellow Post Camping

Great report and pics as usual, thanks.

I've read about these sites on another website and would like to give them a look. A remote place to camp relatively close to home has a lot of appeal. How challenging was the road up to where you camped at site 18?

Well , with the trailer i locked up the diffs twice. Just for insurance because i'd hate to have to back down. It gets quite rocky and it would be somewhat of a squeeze to get a SMB under a couple trees, but other than that.. you should be good.

Some of the other YP's are much easier to get too.

We've also camped a few spots at Lytle Creek.

Of the few your link mentioned, Our favorite so far has been at:
YP15 (Pit Camp) is located on 3N31 at N34° 18.699 W117° 35.004

For Googlemaps (look for green arrow): 34.311752,-117.583414

You can reach it from the back side trail from Lonepine off the 138(to Wightwood), off the 15 North on the way up to Victorville/Barstow/Vegas..
It has a nice view of the road coming up and also a nice view of Lytle Creek - Little Scotland?

I'm sure there are other perferred camp sites but we call it the Summer Camp since it's usually cooler in temperature then most locations due to it's altitude in that area. Good Shade in the latter half of the afternoon.

Not bad for being a close high altitude camp site near LA.. other then Big Bear/ Lake Arrowhead which takes longer to get to..

Thanks for the info. I'll try and get up there for a visit before end of summer.
