Thanks guys.

Been in Leavenworth a couple days. My wife is attending a course here. We lived here once upon a time for a year and then my wife lived here another year back in the 90s.

Anyway, I always thought it was interesting here because you have Army higher education combined with a lot of correctional facilities including military disciplinary barracks, federal and state.

So we are staying downtown at a Hampton Inn and my bicycle was stolen off the back of my van. It wasn’t locked and hasn’t been for a month. Figures.

The town claims the title of first city in Kansas and sits along the Missouri River on a bluff overlooking the river. Quite a few neat old houses. Fort Leavenworth sits on the north edge of town.

I’ve seen and heard about a lot of rain upstream and the river has been high with lots of evidence of it being higher than it is now. The Missouri is largely controlled by dams these days.

Sorry to hear about your bike, Marret. There’s just too many pathetic people in this world that can’t work honestly for their possessions, and it irks me greatly.

I like the picture of town; a sight seen less and less these days.

Wow, glad it wasn’t your big bike! Still a bummer.

Thanks, and yeah it sucks. I did think about it a while back when I first started leaving it unlocked. I have been contemplating getting rid of it and getting an e-bike.

I keep the motorcycle and trailer locked up when traveling. Bike locked to the trailer and trailer locked to the van. I use a hitch lock both when connected and when not. Won’t stop a real thief but the locks are a deterrent.

There have been a few towns worth photographing on this trip, but I’m often not happy with the photos I take of them so haven’t been taking them. Figured I’d try this one. And right Mike, a sight seen less and less these days.

Made it home late yesterday. Drove from Leavenworth to Fort Leonard Wood MO. Not much to take photos of, but we did cross the Lake of the Ozarks.

Lake of the Ozarks is a large reservoir created by impounding the Osage River in the northern part of the Ozarks in central Missouri. Due to the terrain, this created a long relatively narrow serpentine shape.

Interesting clouds last night and got one photo as heat lightning lit up the cloud. Heat lightning is apparently just far away lightning, far enough away one doesn’t hear thunder.
