I actually knew that having worked in China, but I thought the sign was kinda funny. Anyway we say goodby to Moab today, and we're off to Goblin valley. So far Utah has been amazing, but Finding good beer has impossible. I did find one six pack of micro brews, but the $19.00 price tag made me put it back. I feel sorry for folks living without decent beer.

Good beer in Utah takes a bit of extra work, but its not THAT hard. At least in Moab. Green River may be different. You have to go to the state run liquor store, I think its on Center st, close to Main. Look for the sign for the Gonzo Inn.
They have a good selection of full strength micros. It's a bit more expensive than, say, Colorado, but not prohibitive, and not $19/six pack.
The two quirks are- it's all sold warm, and you can't buy a six pack. You have to make your own. You CAN put six of the same beers in your six pack, or you can mix and match- which is actually kind of nice.
I expect the deal in Green River (closest to Goblin Valley) to be pretty much the same, maybe not as many micros? You just have to find the State store.

I really like Hop Rising- it'a double IPA (more an IPA-and-a-half) from a utah brewer- can't remember which.

Go directly to Moab brewery for full strength good tasting beer in the can. Don't forget to recycle!

Look for the beer called "Devistator" by Unitas brewing. Yes not available at the gas station mini mart. Only the state liquor stores. The restaurants sell it, but only if you are ordering food.

I second that, except it's Devastator from Wasatch Brewery
(I took a picture of the bottle I was so impressed.)

On the back it says, "If you're going to sin, sin big. With 8% alc/vol and a creamy richness, this brew has developed a serious cult following. Imagine that - a cult following in Utah?!"

I can't speak to the canned beer at the Moab Brewery, but that's the only place I've had just one draft before leaving. They do have great bike jerseys, though. I bought two.

There's a favorite beer thread around here somewhere. It needs refreshing. See what I did there?
