I'm way delinquent on posting up a report of this years "Guys Trip", so I'll just let the photos speak for themselves.
It was an awesome trip with only the first night location pre-planned. The rest was pretty much winging it with a general idea of where we thought we wanted to go. We encountered mud, snow, lots of down trees, loss of trail into a lake, trail blazing (responsibly of course), a lesson in winch maintenance (or rather the importance of it), lots of lava rock (chews the hell out of tires), the Oregon / California / Nevada boundary marker, herds of wild horses and generally a good time.
The wilderness can bring out the beast (or pig) in us.
I should have the gps tracks somewhere. I'll see if I can dig them up. Our first night target was Big Sage Reservoir, then worked our way north, west of Goose Lake to Lakeview. Then jumped up into the Warner Mountain Range to head south. Finally hit 395 to 299 then last minute decision to go to Pyramid Lake and have our own Burning Man. Then headed back to the Bay Area.

Watermelon Margaritas! It was Cinco de Mayo.

Hopefully the guns and liquor were not at the same time.
Guns always before liquor! We may be dumb, but not stupid (or is it the other way around?).
I'm just now finding time to read some old posts. Phil you said it was a good trip but it looks like a #10 ++ on the fun factor scale. I've never gotten above a #8 which was awarded by a gas station guy in Truckee and I was towing a tent trailer with a canoe on the roof. The Burning Man shot was priceless. I'm a burner twice and I'd rather be in a small group like yours. Did you make it over the snow drift? I didn't see any "after " shots.
