New Years Eve

I would like to have a SMB's version of New years Rockin Eve in the San Diego area. Can any of my friends on this site give me a tip or two on a cool place to camp for the nite and toast in the new year? I'll be at Doheney just after Christmas for three days, so I'm thinking maybe higher ground going to the east. But please, all great ideas are welcome. Thanks, C ya

Anza-Borrego's nice. Not sure how far east you want to go though.

My favorite is the Palm Canyon campground...

http://www.socalcamping.com/000Anza/palmcanyon.html

Flush toilets and hot showers, full hookups. Good hiking from here up into the canyon, lots of bighorn sheep.

I'm always amazed at how many people I meet coming back down out of the canyon who report they didn't see any sheep, yet as I go in, I see dozens. They blend in pretty well but if you keep your eyes wide you'll see them. And at night you can see the milky way overhead.
