NorCal Meet and Greet

We are still on for Saturday the 25th of Oct at 10 am at the Arco Arena.

Since I've never been to the Arco Arena, I do have a couple of questions for those in the know -

- The arena is next to I-5 near the CA70 turnoff, right?

- Is there an exit for the arena?

- Is there more than one entry to the parking? Which one should we use?

- Is there any parking fee at the Arco Arena?

- Or any security guards to chase us away?

Enough dumb questions for one day.

Mike

I'm still up for it, and I hope we get a few others as well.

err... I-5 and I-80

Yeah, there's a couple ways to get there. google maps and such are pretty reliable for that area.

There is actually, but the best one might be on the Truxel side, there is an overflow lane at the very north of the lot for when there's crazy traffic, I think this would work best:

There can be if there is a big event. That day there is a concert but I don't know if they will have the gates down for parking. I called the office and got an answering machine that takes no messages so I'll call back later.

I used to live literally across the street from the arena in some apartments there and I would go over on a regular basis with some friends and fly sport kites and I don't even remember seeing any security except and the big events/kings games etc.

If the lot is closed to open parking (does that even make sense?) we can easily relocate to the truxel shopping centers or something like that.

I'll reply to this thread with what I get back from the arco people. [/quote]

Buji,

Thanks for the map link. It looks like I-5 North to Del Paso exit to Truxel to the Arena parking.

Easy enough that I can follow it.

Thanks,

Mike

I did hear back from Arco, and they will be charging $12 for parking that day, so I think the arco lot is out.

If we want to stay central sac, we can just meet up down the street at the truxel lot, or we can come up with something else. Who else is in?

Buji,

I wish I had checked your location earlier - we just spent last week in Yosemite, and Mather is really close.

But, in any case, I'm still up for a meet. I don't know Sacramento at all, so I can't suggest anything there.

How about an In-N-Out Burger near I-5? I know the one in Tracy, but anyone we can get to is good.

Mike

Why is it we can't generate much interest in this Meet-N-Greet???

Maybe it's this time of year? Scatter's in Baja, and I'm guessing other folks just don't want to come to Sacto maybe.

I say we table this until we get more interest.

FYI - the mather I live in is actually the old air base just s/e of sacramento, not the one down by yellowstone.

It makes sense to cancel a Meet and Greet with nobody to meet or greet.

Bummer though! I was looking forward to it.

Maybe it is the season. Some of my friends refuse to do anything when the Raiders/49ers/World Series/Whatever is playing.

Maybe in the spring.

Fishbreath,

We may be heading up to Oroville to visit my mother-in-law in a couple of weeks.

Maybe we can get together for a mini Meet and Greet?

I'll let you know when we get a firm date.

Mike
