Maybe we can do an above Fresno break-in run after you get er out of the shop. I'd like to do Shuteye peak again this year.

Re: NorCal Sierra 4x4 Meet

I updated my first post and will continue to do so if more want to join in or have to back out. I also posted some spots to camp at for those who are wanting to break up the long drive.

Dave.

Re: NorCal Sierra 4x4 Meet

Hi Dave and am also interested in trying. A quick summary. We just got the van a month ago. It does have 4wd but we have never done any kind of 4wd before. Also only have the snow tires on, Bridgestone Blizzak. Ok to tag along and do you recommend. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Great. You won't have a problem...the trail is rated easy. Many of my buddies have done it in stock 4x4 pickups with street tires. There are 3 stream crossings and the only one can be a problem but the forest service smoothed it out 2 years ago. Here is what it looked like in late July of 2006:

I saw a newer Chevy Impala up at the lake in 2012...a little beat up but it made it. Now I'm not suggesting somebody bring a car up there. Last year the trail was substantially worse than the year before but nothing that any 4x4 van can't handle. Basically about 5 miles of bumpy driving.

I'll add you to the list and hope we see you there.

Dave
