NW Idaho -- Sandpoint & Couer D' Alene

We'll be passing through Sandpoint and Couer D' Alene in about a week. Any advice on favorite adventure sport activities or scenic places for this time of year?

Thank you.

You guys will be passing just north of me, If you are going to camp on the lake, look for one of the more remote and quiet campgrounds on the far south east side of the lake. (As opposed to the "Tourist Traps" closer to Couer D' Alene)

Well if you are looking to hang out a bit and want quiet (this time of year) I would detour a bit to Priest Lake, lots of logging roads on the east side, Sundance Mt. lookout would be a cool place to spend the night depending on the weather but it will a take a couple hours to get up it. If you are just passing through might be a bit more than you are looking for. Lots of state campgrounds around the lake but would check to see how seasonal they are.

Priest Lake is my favorite place in the world.... I also have a cabin there so there you go. I also like Sandpoint a lot. What are you looking to do? They are getting snow this week in the mountains and even up at Priest Lake they are expecting 4-8 inches of snow possibly. I prefer Sandpoint for checking out the town over Couer D'Alene since Couer d' Alene is usually busier. As far as sports go, it is hunting season and about to get snow so your in between.
