NWOR this June, anyone?

Hey guys,

I'll be heading out to the NWOR this late June with a few friends, all vans. Anyone else going? My friends Jay and Natasha will be tagging along in their nice '03 custom built E350. I'm likely to take my '65 Econoline camper instead of my AmbuLand but it's not set in stone yet. All I know is that we are going! We hope to arrive Friday morning...

Cheers
David

I am planning on being there. Have not decided on which rig I will be taking, 4Runner or SMB. Will probably leave Portlqnd on Monday or Tuesday and arrive on Thursday.

We might go. Hopefully the old rust bucket will be fully functional by then.

It's doubtfull I make it this year, but I hope it's cooler than last year. We beat the heat though by heading up into the mountains to camp. Just a couple thousand feet up made a huge difference and we got away from the crush of humanity. Enjoy.......

Are there any guided rides for motorbikes? The activities include 4WD guided tours, and I can go on a jeep road with my bike, but I can go at least twice as fast as a jeep (has to do with fewer wheels so fewer bumps to avoid) unless it's really gnarly. Sitting and waiting for a line of jeeps just results in both engine and rider overheating :-( Or are there GPS tracks available for self-guided rides?

And what about the camping area - is 4WD required (or recommended)? My RWD Sprinter with summer tires doesn't do well in mud.

Sorry for the questions, but the NWOR website is a little shy on details.

Touratech puts on the motor bike side of the event, Touratech Rally WEST 2016 - Touratech-USA. Register at the TT site for their event.

Both rally's happen at the same time on adjacent farm fields. Touratech runs the motor bike events for beginners through expert.

You should have no problem with your Sprinter. The fields are bone dry.

G'day,
Was there last year and had a ball. There was about 20 SMB's in attendance.
The feild you camp on is covered in grass, and has a gentle up hill slope. It was 100f every day last year, there was a little dust during the day, whilst people moved thier vehicles around.
The river is about 500 yards away. There are three shops in the town of Plain, Hardware, Supermarket & Coffee Shop. And a fancy Motel. There's everything you need with a big German styled town nearby called Levanworth, beautiful about 30 miles away. The normal temperature around June is normally around 80-85f and cool at night.
Enjoy!

About the Northwest Overland Rally
I know this is an old thread, but it's time to think about the 2017 rally. So, any plans to go this year? I plan to just do the BC Rally, but there's talk of an off road trip from the Wa rally to the BC one. I'm in for that too.
