I'm curious about the SMB camping area at OE. We live in Flagstaff, but thought it might be fun to join the gang. Is there a cost for camping? We showed up late on Sunday last year just to have a look around. We had dropped off our van on Friday in Fresno for converting and were just coming back into town.

It is pretty expensive to camp. About $150 per person for the weekend. SMB has a code they can give for 10% off which helps. The fee includes tickets to get in as well.

Thanks JoeH for providing the excellent information on MTB rides in the area. Looking at all the possible rides, we could spend 3-4 days just mountain biking around the Flagstaff area.

Although we are bringing our MTN bikes with plans to get a few rides in, I'm not sure how or when, as I've signed up for so many classes, seminars, demos, Ect., that I haven't left any time for much else. I might just have to ditch a class or two...

We will be arriving on Thursday afternoon around 2:00-3:00'ish in order to grab a decent camping spot, so a late afternoon/early evening ride on Thursday might be in order.

Anyone interested in doing a group ride PM me, or find us in the dispersed camping area. We will be with the Overland Bound IE group & I will be flying a pirate flag atop "The Beast."

Can't wait for this to get here............

I'll be out at the Expo on Friday. Unfortunately I'm off the bike due to a nasty crash a couple of weeks ago. But if anyone rides Sunset Trail (a flag classic) on Saturday I'll be running a trail maintenance day in the am. Stop in and say high. On Sunday if anyone happens to be in downtown Flag the bike and gear swap will be in Heritage Square followed by a downtown bike parade. Trails are in good shape albeit a bit dusty. We are in stage II fire restrictions but nothing is closed yet except the trails on Bill Williams Mtn outside of Williams (30 mile to the west).

Joe - still hoping to get down there and it may even be Friday then had to De Chelley on the way home. Gotta hike the lava river cave while we are down there too. We shall see.

Lava River cave is pretty cool. Definitely worth a stop. Also, it's close to where AZ trail cuts across FS418 for easy access if you've got an hour or two to ride.

oops, forgot about your hand surgery. Nice hike!

Hike for sure. Might send wifey up Humphrey's for a bit of a climb. She does that well.
