Re: Overland Expo in Flagstaff May 15-17

Nick and I are heading to Moab on the 9th (maybe stop in Brianhead or fishlake campground off of the 70 for the first night) Then on to Flagstaff/Sedona mid-week -check out the expo returning back to So Cal on the 16th/17th.

We would love to do some riding in Flagstaff/Sedona......if anyone wants to join us in Moab feel free....

Re: Overland Expo in Flagstaff May 15-17

I'm going to try to stop by on Saturday. I'll be leaving Flagstaff on a 4 day bikepacking trip first thing Saturday morning and my route has me riding right near the event.....I'm going to try to detour over there and stop by. We'll see how it all pans out.

Well, slight change of plans... Looks like it'll be just myself and my 5yr old sidekick heading down. Mama needs to work next weekend... My little buddy is pretty fired up to have a Boys Weekend with Dad and 'see some cool trucks'. For the cyclists in the crowd don't miss the Rocky Mtn Sherpa 27.5+ bike. We'll have demos, swing by the booth. Check out the front pg of ExPo write up on the Sherpa...

It's Sherpa weather for sure. 3" of snow tonight in Flag. Are you a Rocky Mountain dealer? http://expeditionportal.com/first-big-r ... in-sherpa/

Yeah. Just saw the weather report, shouldn't be dusty at least. And I'm actually an employee... Territory Mgr for the UT/ID/WY region, our demo team will have a booth with Sherpa and possibly Blizzard fatbikes to check out...

Roger that Tex! I can't wait to put some faces on these Vans.
We will be arriving a bit late. We cannot leave LA until about 3pm on Thursday, that puts us in after 10pm.
How does this work?
Is it possible to be in an area together with other SMB owners?
Is someone willing to save us a spot?
PM me and I will give you my cell number and you can text me your location once you land!!

5" of snow last night. The models continue the trend of an active pattern over the southwest with another low potentially producing snow next weekend in time for the Expo. Or not, who knows in May.

Re: Overland Expo in Flagstaff May 15-17

I'll probably only make it out to the venue for half a day on Sat or Sun but I'm always up for a ride if anyone wants company. A group ride in Flag or Sedona would be fun. If anyone wanted to shuttle out to FS418 and ride the AZ trail back to Flag that's about as fine a stretch of singletrack in the state. That's 18 miles with 2500' of elevation loss with about 1000' of climbing through meadows and aspens and fir-ponderosa forest. Otherwise, there are any number of fun loops from the Y. http://www.mapquest.com/#a74ba0d37dba3164dd9ed0f4[/quote]

Joe,

Thanks for showing me this site. Forgot I used it years ago to sell my rig (before I came to my senses and kept it). I'll have bikes and would love to get in some road or dirt miles with anyone interested! If we want to drive to a trailhead, we could pile in my van and head out if someone saves my spot. I have racks for four bikes.

Re: Overland Expo in Flagstaff May 15-17

Weather looks like a bit of a bummer for Friday and Saturday. Not that it's not survivable, but gee, it just has to hit on THOSE two days? I've never been before, and happen to be nearby, so am (was?) really looking forward to it. Slightly reconsidering due to the weather, but keeping an eye on it. Sunday looks nice. To those folks who have been before: Is Sunday still a good day to go? Or does it have that "everyone is half packed up and mentally already gone" feeling that you can sometimes find on the last day of an event?

(I was going to come in a borrowed car and just car camp, since I'll already be in Phoenix in said borrowed car -- so the "accommodations" are somewhat influencing me vis-a-vis the weather.)
