Re: Planning a Thanksgiving week trip (9dys) to towards Uta
I was in Moab last weekend and just a small FYI. There used to be 'dispersed' camping along Kane Creek Rd past Hunter Canyon. That is no longer available. It has been replaced with four primitive campsites. They are called Ledge A,B, C and D. Picnic table, fire ring and a pit toilet. Farther south of there, all camping is prohibited.
Not a big deal but a bit of a surprise for me. A little bit harder to get away from the masses. The campsites are OK although I think $15 a night for a pit toilet is a bit excessive.
I second the whole enchilada. The geography change from the La Sals into Moab is crazy.
Oh, and my family and I spent a Tday there two years ago. It was great. A little chilly in the morning (~25F?) but no wind made for some great riding. I took the opportunity to ride Slick Rock and it was empty!

another vote for Sedona. If I'm around I'll hook up for a ride or two.

Re: Planning a Thanksgiving week trip (9dys) to towards Uta
I'll be at the Watchman Campground from Wednesday the 19th to Monday the 24th. Plan on heading to Bryce on Monday or maybe down to Kanab to see if I can get a permit for a hike out to the Wave. Plans aren't completely set except the reservations at Watchman.
If you plan on being in Zion during that time, look me up at the campground.

Re: Planning a Thanksgiving week trip (9dys) to towards Uta
Might be able to make first part of week. I can head out 21st buy need to be back the 26th. I would be up for some MB rides as well. I have been wanting to do Bryce and Zion. Best part is both are an easy day drive.

Looks like myself and another SMBowner buddy of mine are going to be there doing some climbing (and vanning) so if you hit up the canyon lands, I drive a grey 4x4 with CCV top he drives a desert sand EB with penthouse top, hope to see you!
Cheers!

Re: Planning a Thanksgiving week trip (9dys) to towards Uta
Brrr! Our plans to head to Moab/Canyonlands might be squashed by some rather cold temps slated for the area and a sizable storm hitting colorado's higher elevations, they're calling for over a foot of snow with high winds over the mountain passes this sat eve. into sun, does not make for ideal driving conditions. Looks like the temps in Moab are 20 or below at night with daytime temps between 45-50 for the week, with snow forecasted for this sun morn. we'll see....in the meantime, looking at other drive to location options to get into some warmer weather before we start ski season around here. Arizona....Texas?

I will be heading to Gooseberry Mesa this Saturday and staying in the area. I might head back to Vegas to ride some new trails Morgan is working on but its all open to change.
