We took my mother-in-law for a trip in our SMB. She's a big fan of historical sites (but not so much a fan or extreme offroading...), so Ft. Worden State Park and Port Townsend seemed like a good choice.
We took the ferry from Seattle over to Bainbridge Island. Here's the dogs waiting in line.
We parked in town. Just walking from the van to the street, 3-4 folks stopped me to express how awesome they thought our van was. Port Townsend is pretty cool- we grabbed some pizza and sat by the water to eat.
Then we headed up to Ft. Worden SP to explore the bunkers and gun sites.
Grandma really liked the fort.
On the way out, we saw some very tame deer.
The beach spot at the fort were all full. We saw a SMB Sprinter in one of them.
We headed a couple miles up the road to Old Fort Townsend State Park. The campground there is really nice- very tight road and dense woods to separate the sites.
Grandma taught the boy about poking the fire.
The dogs were conked after exploring the bunkers.
The next day we packed up and headed down US101 to Mt. Walker. Here's the views from the top:
We headed back to Bainbridge and rode the ferry home. MIL was thoroughly impressed with our new style of camping.
