Ramseys memorial at the Baja 1000
So, shortly after we lost Ramsey there was talk of a memorial at his favorite bluff top camp site just South of San Felipe A few weeks later, there was a memorial in San Diego, that I couldn’t make, but from all the photos it was well attended.Robb brought me back a really nice memorial sticker someone made up too, thanks to whoever made it. Anyway, I thought it would be great to be able to get together with a group of Ramsey’s friends at the beach and honor the man who meant so much to so many. So, here’s what I came up with,The Baja 1000 is in November, which is still far enough away that folks can plan some vacation time.We can have the memorial a couple days before the race, then go find a great place to sit and watch 1000hp trophy trucks sail off jumps and over our heads. (Well, I don’t get quite that close, but Robb on the other hand has some amazing photos) I’ve talked to John at Agile, and Robb (who I think may have had the original idea back when) and they are both in 100%.So, if you’re interested in joining us, make your plans now. Then there is the issue of the memorial itself. The current vision is something metal, probably set in cement, on top of the bluff where we camped so many times with Ramsey.Anyone with ideas, please speak up, artwork would be even better. Perhaps we could have a design CNC cut out of some plate.Glen can fabricate anything we come with, but remember it has to be carried there, so it can’t be too big. I’ll get in contact with Jan too to see what ideas she may have. So, I don’t know the exact date of the 1000 yet, (anyone?) but I’m looking forward to another Baja trip with great friends.See ya there?

Looks like it goes from Nov 14-18, with the start of the race on the 16th.
I want to go! But I have some things coming up that may prevent me from attending. I will do my best though!

I think we're in Jeff. Robb and I have been talking about heading down there late this year already so this should work out quite nicely.

A good write-up on a memorial plaque we put up for a fallen member. Personally I was concerned about making it a geocache spot for fear it would be vandalized by someone, or removed by Forest Service personnel, but so far so good. I would suggest not making the plaque too flashy or valuable or it might disappear.

I thought this might give you some ideas on a plaque. The pic in the link is when it was new. It has developed a nice patina over the last 10 years.

Sounds like a great plan and was keeping an eye out for when this would take place, I'll throw my hat in on this too. Plenty of time to prepare!
