Might want to check for seasonal road closures, otherwise, most if not all of that loop is doable in 2WD I believe, if it's dry, the snow has hit some areas already.

True the Ref...The loop is forward off the road like a continuation and has about 5 or 6 spots and could be just fine even in rain/snow..but, the loop is so dry/dust take it wide or you could get stuck!)...there are two paths that run either left or right that have some nice single spots...we took the left turn by the outdoor (no roof?!) toilet...the Colorado campsite can easily be reached in 2wd w/o lift...the path goes farther down but we didn't follow it all the way down to the river (500-1000 ft below camp area)...thanks for the kind words all! By the way...the big open field camping is in a "Usage Area" who's name escapes me now...but you'll see it if you're driving through there!
