The next adventure (s)

It’s time to plan the next adventure. In a couple weeks we depart for Vancouver island and a 4X4 trip toCape Scott on logging roads and trails, but I’m already wondering what’s next?A few years ago, I became acquainted with a guy named Ted.Ted rode along with Robb(Rallypanam) on a Dakar race and later wrote a book about it.It turns out that he owns a website that goes by the name of Gravel Travel, where he promotes overlanding in Canada. He also runs a couple adventure rally’s in Canada that he calls the Roaming rally. This year there are two, one starts near Ontario, and the other starts near Banf BC. I’m planning on doing the West coast one, and will sign up as soon as he gets the sign up page in operation (probably next week)It’s a GPS guided, multi day off road adventure through the Canadian wilderness open to both motorcycles and 4X4s.It sells out pretty quickly, so if your interested, check out the links below.

Thanks for this info. This looks like it would be good fun in some beautiful country. My 4wd Sprinter is up and running now so I hope it will be suitable for the route. If you could PM me when the signups begin I would appreciate it.

I like mandatory outings. And it would be great to see you REF. Fond memories of Anza Borrego and you keeping peace with the ranger.....! I'm anxious to learn more about this trip now that it is mandatory.

I'll let you know when sign-ups open. As for taking the Sprinter, I'd contact Ted to determine if it's suitable. On past rallys, they have used trails that were narrow and with low overhead clearance, but this year it sounds different. Anyway, I'd contact him through the Gravel Travel website to make sure.

I don't remember that, but of course I was hiding from the ranger, no way did I want to be involved.

Good thing it didn’t go sideways, cause that ranger came in hot....
It doesn’t hurt when confronted by authorities, to have a kid around to diffuse the situation. It was all Lake, I had him go show off his Jr. ranger badges pinned to his vest.

I'm all set to sign up for the Canada trip. Ted at Gravel Travel confirmed the Sprinter would be fine on the planned route. It's 1500 miles from here to Banff via Nevada, Idaho and Montana. I love north eastern Nevada and western Idaho. Anyway I'm planning to take 5 days to get to Banff. If you are coming from Colorado we could meet up someplace in Idaho maybe. Lake would be 10 now....I'll bring the RC rock crawler..

Figuring out our priorities and trips for the summer, this might happen for us, but possibly not....

This is great! Thanks for the info!! I will certainly be watching this. Especially as it passes right by my backyard. Looks like a good route.
