Here some pics I dug up and KTG (Kris the girl vs. CTB Chris the boy) and I agreed were good...I'm going to post two pics of SMB's on a second reply, to show how the wife was sold when talking to the Wife/owner of Green SMB...the Maroon one was a stop to take a pic of, and me standing by it 'dreaming' acting as if it were mine...

If one wants to do the coast, do yourself a favor and do it in OR or WA.

CA's campgrounds and parks are falling apart, dirty, unmaintained, super expensive and just the worst in North America (haven't tried Mexico's, so perhaps an exaggeration). I was showing my friends the coast last week and we couldn't wait to cross the border to OR. Yuck; a real embarassment.

BTW, it was 80F+ when I took the photo below: sometimes anytime but summer is the best time to go.

I do remember Oregon having the best campgrounds. The hiker/biker sites were only $4 & all had hot showers.

In CA hiker/biker sites are usually picnic tables set in a lawn somewhere off to the side.

At Cape Lookout, just as one example, they were very private quiet sites set way off by themselves, with separate restrooms close by, small lockers for locked storage, and yeah, only $5 now. At Humbug they were some of the nicest in the campground, although no lockers. Since so many hike the OR coast trail or bike tour there it's really nice.
