Trip Ideas Seattle to Utah’s Big 5 and.....

back to Seattle in October. I have most of my places picked out outside of Moab and will be staying in Kanab. I’ll be dispersed camping outside of Goblin Valley and Escalante, unless i can snag no-show campsites. I have a passenger that I have to drop off in Las Vegas and I wonder if i should camp outside of Zion and book it to the airport or camp at Lake Mead. Any ideas appreciated.
From Vegas I’ll head up to Yosemite and west to SanFranscisco.
I have not planned the trip up the coast back up to Seattle so I’d be happy to hear ideas for camping along the coast.
I’m so Stoked!!

You could camp at Valley of Fire State Park up I-15 from Vegas.

Along the coast I like the Florence area west of Eugene - long stretches of beach (no driving on the beach there).

Developed and dispersed camping at Sand Lake with lots of dune driving. You need an Oregon OHV permit there ($25).

We did a SMB forum rally at Valley Of Fire.

Valley Of Fire
One of the members put it on and it's a nice spot.

How are you going to head toward Yosemite? If you plan on using 395 there are a bunch of spots to look over if you feel Vegas to YNP is too far for a single drive. The area around Mono Lake is very colorful this time of year. Mono Lake

Make sure highway 120 is open as there are times when they close it. Usually after October 15th all the high country camps are closed inside the park.

Do you have 4x4?

Southern Utah/Zion area/Kanab/Escalante/Goblin area is my playground. So many places to see and camp. I don't do campgrounds. What's your comfort level?

Thank you so much for the information. I was looking at 395 as my route to head north. I will check to make sure 120 is open.

If you're in Zion drop your friend in St George at the St George shuttle for I think $40.00 to Vegas. For the time energy and coast you can't beat it. I just sent my buddy home that way. Just completed the Piaute ATV trail, despite it's name it is actually open to most full size pick ups and cars for the most part. The fall colors are just coming in.
