Hey I think I recognize the Pacific Ventures SMB, ran into those guys over in Bend on their way North back in July. Said they were headed to Alaska, whereupon I say hey, you gotta go check the Forum, TwoLost is mappin' it all out and recording the whole thing for you as we speak !!

This one is for the archives TwoLost, a great primer and roadmap for the future, thanks for that.

The wilds of the Yukon and Alaska are full of stories just waiting to be told... and the last few posts are further proof of that.

Speaking of maps, here are a few maps that visually show where we went on this specific trip. The first map shows the route from our home in Washington State to Tok Alaska, the second map shows our route from Tok Alaska (day 07) to Kluane Yukon Territory, and the third and final map shows our return route from Kluane back home.

Map #1

Map#2

Map #3

Hahaha Buji... I did not recognize the perspective of the photo with my wife standing next to the van until you brough it up. Yikes, if she really was... well, that oversize (I am walking on thin ice here), I personally would never have to wash the van again...

Thanks everyone,

---TWOLOST---

BC, wasn't me (Pacific Ventures) you bumped into in Bend. Must have been another van. We headed up to Alaska mid-June and back late July. We did pass through Bend on the way up though, but I don't think we stopped there.

It was a great trip!

Phil, musta been someone else with that same color and same little window above sink on driver's side, that's what I noticed and remembered. You guys didnt have a couple mtn bikes on back, and have a little white fan that goes in that window? Maybe I had the date wrong, was over there around Memorial Day too.

BC -

I didn't have any bikes on this trip. I took off my custom bike rack swing arm for this trip and put back on the standard swing arm.

I had SMB add that little window at the request of my youngest son. He always got angry that we would say "look at that on the driver's side" and he couldn't see whatever it was we were pointing out. He loves the $500. "Bubba window"!

I ran into that 6x6 that TwoLost posted a picture of too. It was kind of cool, but actually smaller than our van I think. At the risk of hijacking this incredible thread, here's a couple pictures.

Re: TWOLOST: Alaska 2008 (trip report)

TwoLost,

While I appreciate that this is a much belated comment, I just wanted to let you know that that this is a great trip report and a super read.

I look forward to more trip reports now that you are 2.5 Lost. With the luxury of hindsight, you realize that kids are never easier than when they are an infant.

Re: TWOLOST: Alaska 2008 (trip report)

I think it's more "that rig is really tiny". It's more of Pinzgauer size than a KAMAZ.
