WABDR section 2

Took the family down to Packwood, Wa and up the WABDR to Ellensburg this weekend!

From Bethel Ridge
Unfortunately no views of Rainier this time.

About 1/4 mile of mud on the whole 122 mile route.

First campsite just past hwy 410 near Nile, Wa

to be continued...

Re: WABDR section 2

Short spur road to a pond of cattails and a pile of brass the kid loves collecting!

Nile down below

Have to love a kid who loves wandering!

Doesn't seem to show, but there were some really steep parts down. I used 4lo a lot to try and stay off the brakes when I could.

The gate keeper at Wenas Road

More steeps requiring 4x4

Happy back seat drivers

Ellensburg after the next (Manastash) ridge.

Re: WABDR section 2

Great trip report! I will have to explore that are sometime soon. I just did the next section, north from Ellensburg to Wenatchee a few days ago -- with plenty of detours.

Re: WABDR section 2

Looks great Geoff! I'd like to do the rest of the route sections some time! Not sure I can do the whole thing at once due to the time it takes us! We almost camped up at Lions Rock one night but ended up just outside of Cle Elum and then the next day went up past Salmon La Sac

It was a fun trip and we hope to get back to the area again soon! There are lots of other roads we have yet to be on!

Re: WABDR section 2

I drove up to Gallagher Head lake last weekend. Snow was a bit deeper than I expected in places and a few trees were down here and there.

Going back in the next few weeks for sure.
